Falcon F7

American machismo: Falcon F7

Stealth bomber? Uncompromising macho fantasy? Wedge shaped homage to the eighties? All these notions come to mind when the F7 by Falcon Motor Sports rolls into view. At the Detroit Motor Show the Americans showed a pedigree super sports car for adventurous drivers. (Stefan Wagner , 18.01.2012)

One for the boys

There is no electronic safety anchor, but there is also very little weight and massive power is also on hand here. Falcon Motor Sports based in the state of Michigan are targeting the hard-core buyers, the velocity junkies, with their super sports model dubbed ‘F7’. The chassis is constructed in aluminium with carbon composite elements and carbon laminate has been employed for the entire carosserie. The result is a kerb weight of 1,300 kilos for the 4.42 metres long and 1.12 metres high automobile. However all of this backbone is quite tough enough to permit the removal of the roof segment of the F7. The motorization seems to hark back to a production of the eighties… the power is that of a seven-litre V8 mill from the Corvette. After fine tuning this power plant delivers 620 horsepower and 790 Nm of torque. The push reaches the rear axle via a Ricardo manual six-speed gearbox, the back wheels fitted with 335 format rubber on 20 inch rims. At the front the tyres are sized 275 on alloys of the same size. The suspension is a complex coil-over rig, fully adjustable and with hydraulic lifting capability.

Falcon F7
This will be the angle from which the Falcon F7 will most often be seen… the zero-to-a-hundred time should be under four seconds and that the top speed is in the region of 320 kilometres and hour.

320 top speed

Falcon Motor Sports have not yet released full performance data but it is understood that the zero-to-a-hundred time is under four seconds and that the top speed is in the region of 320 kilometres an hour. Anyone driving that fast needs to be sure of coming to a stop when required. In the case of the F7 there are six-piston calipers biting 380 discs at the front of the car and four-pistons grabbing 355 discs at the back. ABS protection can be ordered only as an optional extra. It will come as no surprise that the owner will not lack for gimmicks such as GPS navigation, an audio system with iPod dock, air conditioning and electrically operated windows. The price tag for the Falcon F7 will be around 176 thousand Euros.
