Fine tuning the V12
A lot of motor in just a little bit of automobile. The V12 Vantage GT3 will be the car in which customers who race can enjoy performance even superior to that of the stock V12 Vantage. The motorization is a modified version of the six-litre twelve-cylinder which is deployed in the street version. Where the latter puts out 517 horsepower and 570 Nm of torque, the track car will have over 600 horsepower and more than 700 Nm. There is also a dry sump lubrication system which has been weight optimized and positioned lower in the V12 for improved balance.

Lighter, nimbler, faster
Apart from the motor tuning the GT3 racer has other technology differences… there is the sequential Xtrac six-stage racing transmission with paddle shifters. The drive shaft sending the power to the 18 inch wheels is made of carbon composite materials. Compared with the DBRS9 the wheel-base is shorter and the motor is mounted lower to the ground to give improved handling and enhanced overall performance. Racing ABS is onboard as is traction control. Thanks to an aluminium chassis and aerodynamics components crafted in carbon the car weighs only 1.25 tons. The mandatory FIA security equipment includes roll-over cage, fire extinguisher system and a 110 litre fuel tank behind the driver.
From 340,000 Euros
The preceding model, the DBRS9, has been available for six years but Aston Martin managed to sell only twenty-four of them to racer clients. The hope is that it will be very different with the 340 thousand Euros V12 Vantage GT3. The British car maker has announced that the first tests will be conducted in October this year with deliveries scheduled to begin at the beginning of 2012.
