Moving with the times
How times change. In the bad old days a top Mafioso might be found in the back of… say… a chauffeur-driven sixties Lincoln Continental. He would emerge from the black limousine with its suicide doors to visit the wrath of ‘the family’ on opponents or recalcitrants. Or so Hollywood would have us believe. But a tuner in the depths of the German region of Swabia would suggest a very different scenario. The firm has the very promising name, Cosa Design, and they subscribe to the notion that today’s villainous gang boss would himself take the wheel… of a Lamborghini Gallardo.

- Cosa Design up the power of the Gallardo by tinkering with the electronics so that now the V10 motor delivers 540 horsepower and boosts the maximum torque from 510 to 550 Nm. All this is good for an increase of the top speed from 309 to 317 kilometres an hour.
More power for the used car
In order to save cash the modern Mafioso might go for a used car. His Gallardo is one from the first edition of this model. But given the 500 horsepower on board he feels confident that any chase will end for him advantageously in spite of the fact that there are now police forces in Italy which deploy on the side of law and order the fighting bulls fabricated in Sant’ Agata Bolognese. Cosa Design, therefore, usefully ups the power of the Gallardo by tinkering with the electronics so that now the V10 motor delivers 540 horsepower and boosts the maximum torque from 510 to 550 Nm. All this is good for an increase of the top speed from 309 to 317 kilometres an hour. Our villain at the wheel sets no store on stealth or silent getaways and Cosa Design recognize this by installing a stainless-steel exhaust system with flap controls. Since this reduces the exhaust gas back pressure it accounts for 20 of the increased horsepower.

Like Marlon Brando in a Disney flick
Discretion is also scorned by the thoroughly modern Mafiosi. He feels that the far from discreet body-kit for the Gallardo is just about right. The front and back skirts are meant to give the car a hint of Reventon styling but are about as improbable as the appearance of Marlon Brando in a Disney family movie. The side skirts and the race car sized rear spoiler wing give the ‘Gangster Gallardo’ its fitting finishing flourish.
Gallardo vs. Gallardo in the next Godfather sequel?

There are new brake units behind the slender ten-spoke 20 inch wheels by ATS, with eight-piston saddles at the front and six-piston at the rear. Here our mobster has chosen well… the 9.5x20 inch rims at the front are clothed with Continental Sport Contact tyres in 245/30 format at the front of the car, at the back the alloys are 11x20 and wear tyres sized 295/25. The coil-over suspension can be adjusted for firmness and height and help to give the car an even meaner look. Surely all this is enough to get our Capo very smartly through the winding roads of Sicily?
We look forward to a Godfather-inspired movie with a Cosa Design Gallardo being chased by a Gallardo of the Carabinieri!
