Photo Poll: The worst special editions
Four-wheeled excesses
No marque can claim to be free of them. And nobody really needs them. We refer to the often senseless ‘special editions’ which in the fullness of time leave the car makers blushing in mortification. Vote for the worst in our Photo Poll! (Jessica Fischer

Embarrassing from the start
‘Special Edition’ car models – often they make no sense whatsoever. But the clever chaps in the marketing departments constantly dream up ways of boosting turnover and look for their inspiration to faraway places, to exotic animals or to a warped understanding of human intrapersonal relationships. And then they project these abstruse notions onto a thing of sheet metal on four wheels. We have collected just a few of the most cringe-worthy examples in our Photo Poll format. Vote for the one you find the ultimate waste of metal. And, of course, if you know of automobile awfulness we have overlooked, do let us know! Your feedback will be very welcome!
Maybe we would have shown the Lada Kalina disguised as a ladybird beetle as an April Fools’ Day bonus but we find it the perfect opener for our Photo Poll today. Just like the ladybug, the Lada Kalina is in Europe an endangered species. No wonder! But how does anyone come to associate a ladybug with an automobile? We suspect that vodka was somewhere in play.
