Audi TT RS Plus
Happy endings
The next generation Audi TT is already straining in the starting blocks but the Ingolstadt auto maker has decided to make just one more special version of its predecessor, one with 360 horsepower capable of a top speed of 280 kilometres an hour, open or closed. (Stefan Grundhoff. Stefan Wagner

A final fling
It is not seldom that Audio bring out a sporty special version towards the end of a model cycle. The first Audi RS4, the current RS3 and the older RS6 are good examples of this practice. Now, shortly before the new Audi TT is set to appear, there is a very hot version with ‘Plus’ in its name. The Audi TT RS Plus weighs 1,450 kilos and it not only looks ready to rumble it does exactly that. The turbo-charged five-cylinder engine puts out 265 horsepower, enough for a top speed of 280 kilometres an hour and plenty of respect on the fast lane of the autobahn. The torque has been upped by 15 to 465 Nm.

From 60,650 Euros
Visually the Plus is only very slightly different from the standard RS model. The diamond-shaped mesh of the radiator grille is held in shiny anthracite grey finish and the decorative trim strips are in matte aluminium. The housings of the external rear-view mirrors are fashioned in carbon composite material and there is a dual-flow sports exhaust system with an integrated sound control flap to add acoustic accompaniment. There is a carbon design kit on offer to embellish the motor compartment. Inside the car there are as well as other sporting details a TT RS Plus plaque. The Audi TT RS Plus can be had either as a Coupé or as a Roadster. The new performance data… 4.1 seconds for the rush to a hundred and a top speed limited to 280 kilometres an hour. The averaged fuel consumption is stated as being 8.5 litres of Super per hundred driven kilometres. All-wheel-drive is standard and there is the option of seven-stage dual-clutching transmission with ‘launch control’. As a coupé the Audi TT RS Plus with manual gear-box will start at 60,650 Euros, with seven-stage S-Tronic 62,800 Euros. The tags on the open air version will read 63,500 and 65,650 Euros respectively.
