A form of re-cycling
The truth cannot be denied and the truth is that the Seat Exeo shares with the Audi A4 B7 the drive-train, the underbody and the basic carrosserie. A shame, then, that the model came on the market at a time when the A4 had been discontinued for over a year. This cannot be called a brilliant marketing strategy and so it is hardly surprising that the Exeo is seen as something of a wallflower. But JE Design have risen to the challenge and have come up with a comprehensive tuning package for the estate car version of this Spanish re-cycling auto.
In sports uniform
Step one was to give the car a far more sporty look with an all-round aerodynamics kit, consisting of a front spoiler (379 Euros), a radiator grill without badge (199 Euros), side-skirts (399 Euros), a diffuser mounting with a carbon fibre look (299 Euros) and a roof spoiler (199 Euros). Two pairs of mufflers add up to four 80 millimetre out lets at the back and give the rear end visual character and – at least with the petrol fuelled engine – deliver a very acceptable sound. The sound bonus is well deserved after the tuning of the 2 litre TFSI. The JE Design version ups the horsepower from 211 to 270, the torque from 320 to 390 metres, all for a price of 1,379 Euros. For 1,179 the tuner gets from the diesel engine output raised from 170 to 205 horsepower and torque improved from 350 to 385 metres.
Comforts aplenty inside
To reflect this plus in performance JE Design will install sports suspensions (169 Euros) which lower the Exeo by 35 millimetres. If the driver still wants more JE offer KW coilovers for 929 Euros. To round off the chassis and drive-train modification they propose 19 inch rims wearing 235/35 sports tyres for 2,930 Euros. And JE Design have not overlooked the interior of the previously bland Spanish auto. For 1,599 Euros) there’s a full leather interior to be had with choice of hide colour and contrast stitching. Another 79 Euros and the driver can have a logo of his own choice embroidered on the front seat backrests. Luxury comfort is available with two-level seat heating (379 Euros), the electrically adjustable lumbar support (319 Euros) and a massage system integrated into the seats for 429 Euros.
