230 kmh in the retro Bug

…that’s how much JE Design get after installing an extra motor management module to the top two-litre motorization which in stock trim delivers 200 horsepower. The torque increases from 280 to 310 Nm. This enhancement costs 1,280 Euros and gives the customer a Beetle which can shoot to a hundred in 6.9 seconds (standard is 7.5 seconds). According to JE the maximum speed rises from 223 to 230 kilometres an hour. All this needs to have the right sound and this is provided by a stainless steel muffler with quad tailpipes. (952 Euros) which fit perfectly in the new rear skirt with diffuser (476 Euros).

An extra motor management module gives the two-litre turbo power plant horsepower increased from 200 to 240. The torque increases from 280 to 310 Nm.

All street-legal

The tuner firms up the Beetle’s suspension with sports springs which lower the car’s centre of gravity by about 3.5 centimetres (219 Euros). On offer are 19 inch rims in four colour-ways taking rubber sized 235/40 or 235/35… the complete wheel-sets costing from 2,810 Euros. All of the modifications correspond with German regulations for a street-legal vehicle and the exhaust system is exempt from registration requirements.
