Flaunting it
It goes without saying that such a show car must offer more than ‘intrinsic values’… that is to say a sound system in which decibels are as important as horsepower… the look has to be similarly stupendous. This explains why the client, Mac Audio, have made sure that their musical vehicle, the Mini Clubman S, will hardly pass by un-noticed. For a start there is the John Cooper Works body-kit and then the special white matte finish, not to forget the white Oxygin 18 inch rims clad with 215 format ‘Advan’ sports tyres. The rolling disco has been given a bit more push by Wimmer Rennsporttechnik who have increased the power output to 230 horsepower. Also installed on the Mini are KW coilovers, Stoptech four-piston brakes and Recaro’s ‘CS’ shell seats… all intended to give this mobile music system a touch of sporting flair.

- There are three STX reference woofers and no less than six power amplifiers from the ‘Micro X’ series with a total of 3,900 watts maximum output. The half dozen amps are appealingly mounted in the roof of the car and are reflected in the modified floor of the auto.
You hair stands on end
As might be imagined, however, the tuning of the driving dynamics for an audio show car is a more or less secondary issue. After all, the goal is to ensure that the occupants’ hair stands on end when the sound system is powered up. Mac Audio guarantees this result by installing StarX 2.16 front and rear loudspeaker systems, three STX reference woofers and no less than six power amplifiers from the ‘Micro X’ series with a total of 3,900 watts maximum output. The half dozen amps are appealingly mounted in the roof of the car and are reflected in the modified floor of the auto. All this audio opulence is controlled through an Audiovox ‘VME 9325 BTA’ head-unit which seems to be able to deal with almost any music format and is operated by touch-screen.
