More power even without a ‘black box’
If we are to believe the press release the A7 ‘Seven Sins’ by Pogea Racing begs for forgiveness. Pardon is deserved thanks to the significant boost in power given to the sportback by the tuners in southern Germany. The Audi specialists at Pogea are particularly proud of the fact that they have not needed to install any additional ‘black box’ – the solution often implemented by their rivals. Instead they have hacked the standard motor control program of the big Audi and used classic chip-tuning methods to achieve their performance targets. The tuners have concentrated on both the petrol and diesel fuelled 3 litre motors. Out of the modest 3.0 TDI with Multitronic they have coaxed 251 horsepower and 468 metres of torque, comparing favourably with the 204 horsepower and 400 metres of the standard model. The more potent 3 litre TDI which in standard trim gives 245 horsepower and 500 Newton metres of torque has been programmed by Pogea to deliver now 289 horsepower and 555 Newton metres of torque. The compressor aided petrol engine, also with a 3 litre capacity, has been pushed by Eduard Pogea’s crew to have an output of 345 horsepower and 495 metres of torque, compared with 300 and 440 for the unmodified version. All these improvements, together with deactivation of the factory-installed maximum speed limitation, come at a price of 1,799 Euros. As options the customer can order a sports air filter and a stainless steel exhaust system.

- The sportback is even more sporty with light 20 inch alloys, KW coilovers and a Brembo braking system.
A sport program from
Pogea is the exclusive German importer for forged alloys made by MÖZ in California and these are put to good use on the A7. The shiny black wheels with chromed inlays are from the ‘Stroke’ range and are mounted on the A7 in 9x20 inch format. The tyres are Conti Sport Contact 3 sized 265/30 20. The rims are ultra lightweight and the reduction in the un-sprung mass means improved driving behaviour. The sporty ride is also due to the installation of KW Street Comfort coilovers and Brembo brakes with perforated discs and special brake pads.
