Controversial as ever…
Since 2008 fans of SUV models worldwide have been in two minds about the BMW X6… many hate it for its coupé pretensions and massive carosserie, others have fallen for the extravagance of what BMW have dubbed their ‘Sports Activity Coupé’.
-
- Senner Tuning have made their name with their versions of models made by Audi in but as usual the team headed by Bruno Senner have been very discreet in their approach to the BMW X6.
Whether one likes or dislikes the X6 there is no doubt that the tuner fraternity has seen it as a challenge and has in recent years produced one eye-popping extreme mutation after another. Yes, it was certainly time for some of the refined discretion for which Senner is so well known. Although this does not perhaps describe what has been done under the bonnet…

- The boy-kit comprises elements largely sourced from the BMW Performance Parts division and complement the enhanced power output of the diesel power plant.
…hotter than ever
Senner started with an X6 xDrive40d in Alpine-white. More power has been coaxed from the diesel bi-turbo through chip tuning and the installation of the sports air filter… where there was formerly 306 horsepower there is now 336 and the torque has risen by 65 Nm to 665. The well-judged body-kit comprises elements largely sourced from the BMW Performance Parts division. At the front there are enlarged air intakes with mesh inlays and black spoiler corners which contrast well with the body colour. The same goes for the rear of the SAC where the sporty rear fender has black trim while the fins of the diffuser are unusually presented in white. The carosserie modifications are rounded off with a rear-window spoiler, a spoiler edge on the rim of the boot and cowlings for the tailpipes of the re-worked exhaust system.

- Hamann rims are also available in less massive sizes but here are mounted in 10.5 and 12x22 format and have been given tyres sized 295/30-22and 335/30-22 respectively. AN imposing appearance but a costly one.
Big footed
Bruno Senner has again displayed his tact and restraint even with potent tuned version when it comes to the wheels and tyres selected for the SAC made in Munich… Hamann rims from the ‘Anniversary EVO Black Line’ range are mounted in 10.5 and 12x22 format and have been given tyres sized 295/30-22 and 335/30-22 respectively. When this running gear is combined with a Bilstein sports suspension the result is not only a visually harmonious appearance but also a real gain in terms of driving dynamics. Inclusive of other more minor details… such as DVD screens for all occupants or tinted windows… the Senner treatment costs around 20 thousand Euros. Some times ‘less’ does cost ‘more’. More information can be had from the Senner website.
